Le Folli Arie, or The Crazy Tunes, are an Italian melodic prog band who have created a more than decent debut. They stick to mostly acoustic flavoured sounds and throw in a few folk touches, but generally stay away from too many Tull-isms. The majority of the album is sung in Italian, although they do switch to English for the final three tracks. This is kind of a shame, because these are without doubt the weakest tracks on the album. The songs in their native language are where the Folli Arie really shine. “Fuori” is a particular highlight, but really, take your pick. The music is very melodic and extremely well played and produced. Highly recommend.
